Transforming Teaching and Learning

Leveraging the ePortfolio to Develop a 21st-century Signature Virginia Tech Undergraduate Experience

The Transforming Teaching and Learning Project is a joint venture between Learning Technologies and CIDER.

Active, engaged, and reflective learning is key to students developing the curiosity, motivation, independence, transfer and self-reflection that the QEP will foster and document. Thus, a new vision and strategic plan for a VT undergraduate signature experience, based on the integration of ePortfolios in an active learning instruction environment, are underway. As part of that signature experience, as has recently been outlined, VT students are likely to use the ePortfolio to document thematically their growth over four years - beginning with self-discovery and awareness; moving to civic engagement and an awareness of broader communities; on to a third-year focus on creative work and research; and culminating in a focus on innovative leadership.
