Interested in developing learner-centered teaching skills? Faculty within their first 6 years of full-time teaching in higher education are encouraged to apply to be a participant in this certificate program. Activities, topics, and interactions have been developed and customized to meet the pedagogical needs of those early in their career.

Instructional Scholars Teaching Certificate

Want to immerse yourself in a community of teaching scholars? Faculty who have at least 6 years of full-time teaching experience in higher education are encouraged to apply to be a participant in this certificate program. The two-semester program emphasizes practical, theoretical, and empirical knowledge of scholarly teaching and learning, as well as the growth of curricular, strategic, and instructional skills through engagement in authentic instructional activities.

Large Class Teaching Certificate

Teaching a large class? This certficate program focuses on effective and practical research-based approaches to learner-centered instruction in large classes. This certificate program will include both the nuts-and-bolts of large class logistics and fostering active learning/hands on, minds on instruction.

8th Annual Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy

The conference is a showcase for best practices in teaching and learning, as well as the research that provides evidence of best practices. Ultimately, the conference will provide knowledge and skills related to the teaching and learning that participants will find immediately useful. Proposals are due September 14, 2015. The 4th Annual TEDxVirginiaTech is being held on Thursday, November 19, 2015, from 6:00-9:00 pm at the new Moss Arts Center. All of the 2012-2014 TEDxVirginiaTech videos are now online! TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
